“Even though we have our drill set up to apply urea, we like NH3 because the price usually pencils out better. With the mid row banders, we had no seedling injury at all, even at some pretty high rates. Our seed placement was good too…we seeded peas at 2" deep and flax at ½ inch. We slowed down a little bit for seed placement on our confection sunflowers, but otherwise kept the speed at about 7 mph. I think we got our best start ever in most cases. We never harrowed anything either, it was seed, spray and harvest. That saved a lot of time.”
“ The improvements to the 6000 series air seeder cart were phenomenal. One day we set the machine to seed 2.8 lbs./acre of sunflowers, and put in enough seed for 160 acres. We finished the field at 158.9 acres with a handful of seed left – I’d say it’s the best cart out there. You can go from alfalfa all the way to confection sunflowers with no meter changes. That’s pretty nice. The monitor is simple and user-friendly as well."
"At the end of the day, we are very happy with our Bourgault. It’s built good and heavy — like it was made for our area. We go from heavy clay to light soil, so we need a machine that is versatile. We know the company will stand behind us if we do have any unusual trouble. They have a good reputation to make it right. Even a bushel or two an acre makes a huge difference and on our farm the Bourgault has done very well for us."
