Initially, Louis Lavoie was performing his spring seeding with a 5710 Air Hoe Drill equipped with a single shoot air kit. After analyzing the costs savings associated with one pass seeding, Louis realized that one pass was the way to go. In the spring of 2000, Louis added double shoot boots and a double shoot air kit to his 40’ 5710 and 3195 Air Seeder. To pull the seeding unit Louis used a 280 horsepower Versatile 876 tractor.
In 2001, Louis changed out the double shoot boots for Bourgault Mid Row Banders® and ¾” knives. With the Mid Row Banders, Louis was also able to switch to anhydrous ammonia from dry fertilizer which meant he could seed considerably more acres with his 3195 tank between fills.
