BASIC PURPOSE:
To fabricate all tooling, R&D and Service Parts requirements through the machine shop per task request.
To fabricate high quality, efficient and reliable tooling for production.
To help maintain tooling and equipment so it will be capable of producing top quality parts.
To assist with training, set-up and general guidance of machining operations.
DUTIES:
To build, test, repair high quality tooling such as punches, progressive tooling, drill jigs, forming tooling and die-sets used in the various production functions. This applies to both cultivator and air seeder divisions.
Most of the tooling is built as requirements come from the production engineers to coincide with the production schedules. This work will come in the form of tasks from the Tooling Team Supervisor.
This tooling is to be built with the current equipment available to Bourgault (mills, lathes, surface grinders, etc.).
Outside source equipment or processes as required (i.e. heat-treating).
To fabricate parts or components to be used by Tooling, R&D, Service Parts or Production, efficiently and accurately.
Provide set-up instructions and guidance for tooling in Production.
Maintenance of equipment from the machine shop, front-end, and facilities.
Consultation to various departments such as R&D, production, front-end, punch shop etc. as to what tooling to buy, what speeds to run on certain machines, clearances on punches, wear on punches, should it be sharpened or not, is the die-set okay.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
8 years (full time) machine shop experience.
Minimum 2 years Tool and Die making.
Journeyman machinist
Journeyman Tool & Die Maker
SALARY RANGE
$21.74 - $33.54
