$10,000.00 Raised for Cancer Research

Date: Dec. 6th, 2007

The Canadian Cancer Society was the recipient of an impromptu auction held at the 2007 Bourgault Dealer Convention in Regina on December 6th.

Saskatchewan Roughrider star Matt Domingues appeared at the event to assist in the unveiling of the company’s latest product, the 6700ST Air Seeder. After the unveiling, Matt signed a football that was later put up for auction to the Bourgault dealers at the gathering. That evening, the Bourgault territory managers conducted the auction, and the bidding was fierce! The amazing generosity of the Bourgault dealers demonstrated how cancer has affected so many people, both directly and indirectly. The total quickly grew before the astonished crowd, culminating at $10,000.00 from a joint bid by John Bob Farm Equipment of Tisdale, and Farmworld of Kinistino. All the money will go to the Canadian Cancer Society and is designated for cancer research. Funds designated for research go to the National Cancer Institute of Canada.

John McShannock of John Bob, who recently lost his business partner Bob Penner to cancer, agreed to three-quarters of the total sale amount, and Tex Prete of Farmworld, who has also lost close family members to cancer, agreed to payment on the remaining amount. The response and generosity of those in attendance elated Nora Bakken of the Canadian Cancer Society in Regina.
