Larry Zatylny operates a mixed farm of 1400
acres at Sandy Lake, Manitoba. Larry states “My
land is classified as grey wooded soil with areas of heavy
clay
and sandy loam
soil as well. I practice minimum tillage on my farm. The
flax and canola stubble is left unworked. I do work my cereal
grain fields
to help get rid of all the straw we seem to grow."
"Two years
ago I purchased a new 5000 Series tank with cab rate adjust
which displays the theoretical seeding
rate and fertilizing rate on the monitor and enables me
to adjust these rates on the go.
Because the topography of my land is so uneven, I adjust
the fertilizer rate every 100 yards or so. This was a full
time job. When I heard that Bourgault was offering zone
rate control, I inquired and was fortunate to get one for
evaluation." Larry has proven the gains of the
ZRC option. “It ends up that I use less fertilizer
to get a more even crops using Zone Rate Control.
I am making more efficient use of my fertilizer."
“With
the two fan, double shoot system on my Bourgault 5000 seeder
I am able to run my fan speed a bit higher
to enable me to adjust the fertilizer application rate
to whatever rate I desire. All things considered, I am
very pleased with my Bourgault equipment.” |
