Wheat Trial Results

Trial conducted during the 2023 season

Nitrogen Rate with Source and Band Placement - Compare different rates of nitrogen using different types of nitrogen fertilizer in different band placements.

Nitrogen Source and Placement Trial; Broadcast vs Band - Identify differences in wheat when different sources and placements of nitrogen are used.

Plant Growth Regulator (PGR) - Identify the effectiveness of a PGR on yield and protein at varying fertilizer application rates.

PLDS Nitrogen Distance Trial - To see how moving the nitrogen band either to the side, or deeper, effects the emerging crop when using a dual shank side band opener.

Seed Rate - To compare low, medium, and high seeding rates in wheat.

Starter Phosphorus - To compare differences in seed safety and yield between various phosphorus products when the full amount of the product is placed in the seed row (SR).

Urea Placement; MRB vs SB vs Split - Identify differences in wheat when nitrogen is placed in a mid row band versus in a side-band and a split between the two.

Opener Tip Size - To compare the common ¾” single knife tip size to a 2” tip at varying rates of seed placed starter fertilizer.

Designing Equipment Around Agronomy

Bourgault operates a 2500 acre research farm in St. Brieux Saskatchewan. Every year Bourgault conducts field trials which help understand the impact of the design of the equipment on crop development, as well as to provide customers and agronomists with recommendations on how to best utilize the Bourgault lineup of equipment.
