The 4420 Deep Knife Drill™ by Bourgault combines a robust and easy to adjust deep knife opener with a durable & versatile frame that can be paired with any Bourgault air cart and can accommodate on-board liquid tanks.

The Drill

Outstanding Durability

The DKD™ is available in 12m 3-plex or 18m 5-plex working widths with best in class transport width.

Robust frame construction and heavy duty rear frame can accommodate drill-mounted liquid tanks.
The heavier built 2-row main frame achieves superior penetration.
Bolt-on 3-row sub-frame for ultimate flexibility in opener layouts.

Convenient Depth Adjustment

Frame height is set via shims on the main frame cylinders, which determines the working depth.

Hi-Flotation™

The large tyres, steerable front axle and floating hitch ensure optimal depth control and superior tracking.

Deep Working Fertiliser Shank

A low maintenance, durable opener with 250hr greasing intervals.

Rigid shank with on-the-go adjustable hydraulic breakout from 68kg - 450kg (150lb – 1000lb)
Fertilizer drop is optimized for 120mm – 165mm working depth.
16mm wide knife point.

Seed Assembly

Ground-following 1:1 contour ratio;
Easy packing pressure adjustment with a cordless impact driver.
Easy depth adjustment with a simple handle and pin.

Lifting

Deep knife shank can trip independently over small objects.
Entire assembly trips over larger objects.
Openers lift in road transport for superior ground clearance.

The TruTrac™ stubble management system manages troublesome field residue and keeps the bar tracking straight. The optional TTC™ System is available on all 4420 sizes.

Liquid Tank Option

An optional heavy duty rear frame and running gear can accommodate twin liquid tanks.

Packer Options

A variety of packer sizes and profiles are available.

The 4.5" V-Style Semi-Pneumatic Packer provides a more aggressive, narrow profile with excellent mud-shedding characteristics.
The 5" VU-Style Semi-Pneumatic Packer provides a more rounded v-style profile with good mud-shedding characteristics and less prone to over-packing.
The 4.5" U-Style Semi-Pneumatic Packer provides a wide, rounded packing profile.
The 5.4" U-Style Semi-Pneumatic Packer provides a wide, rounded packing profile and is typically matched with a wide opener.

Note: Over the years, Bourgault has transitioned to offering only semi-pneumatic packers as they are immune to punctures/flat tires.
